A new term of office has started for Andris Vārna, a Board Member of SJSC “State Real Estate” (SRE), whose area of responsibility is real estate portfolio management, customer relationship management, real estate leasing and strategic planning of services. Vārna has been working on the Management Board of SRE since 1 October 2017.
The Council of SRE elected Andris Vārna for a repeated term of office - five years - on 19 January 2022.
“The Management Board of SRE generally fulfils the goals set in the company's strategy, and the Council has also observed regular progress in the areas for which Andris Vārna has been made responsible. Therefore, we clearly approved him for yet another five year term of office as the Board Member,” informs Jānis Garisons, Chairman of the SRE Council.
Before starting work at SRE, from September 2011 to September 2017, Vārna was the Head of Real Estate and Facility Management in Latvia and the Baltics of JSC “SEB banka”, where he optimised the real estate lease portfolio of SEB's offices, facilities and branches in Latvia and the Baltics, developed and implemented modern work environment and workplace concepts, as well as the effective budgeting of real estate, facilities and related costs.
Andris Vārna has a professional higher education in economics, as well as a professional higher education in business and management. Vārna is a certified real estate manager (Certified Property Manager, CPM®), the certificate is issued by the globally renowned and recognised Institute of Real Estate Management®, USA, and he also continues to improve his professional knowledge at the British Institute of Workplace and Facilities Management (IWFM) in the management of real estate, work environment and facilities.
Renārs Griškevičs, Chairman of the Board, continues to manage the capital company, whose area of responsibility is the general and financial management of the company, investment financing and supervision. Jeļena Gavrilova is also employed at the Management Board with the area of responsibility being the implementation of real estate development projects and construction process management. The priorities set for the Management Board are unchanged - continuing the implementation of the medium-term operational strategies of SRE for 2018-2022, including the creation of a modern and customer-orientated working environment in public administration, digital and innovative real estate solutions in the public sector, and sustainable management of the state real estate portfolio.
SRE successfully implements 44 projects of national importance, of which 24 are in the construction stage. The total implementation budget of the projects is more than 336 million euros. SRE provides professional real estate management and administration for approximately 352 real estate properties consisting of 1000 buildings with a total floor area of 0.95 million square metres, along with land beneath the buildings covering 607 hectares and more than 3460 land properties with an area of 907 hectares. SRE is one of 23 Latvian companies to have received the highest platinum award as part of the Sustainability Index of the Institute of Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability, confirming the good governance and sustainability of its operations. The company was founded in 1996 and is 100% owned by the Ministry of Finance.
