The exhibition hall of the Latvian National Museum of Art "Arsenāls", located in the Old Town of Riga, 1 Torņa Street, is about to undergo significant changes, and the SJSC "State Real Estate" (SRE) has announced a tender in relation to these works, informs Jeļena Gavrilova, a member of the Board of SRE.
"The "Arsenāls" exhibition hall is intended to keep the city alive with the heartbeat of modern culture by combining history, art and architecture, inviting the public to see art exhibitions from different periods. After the reconstruction, this historic building in Riga will welcome visitors in restored, historically appropriate and at the same time modern premises," says J. Gavrilova.
The procurement involves planned works for updating and transferring the technical design of the exhibition hall into a BIM (Building Information Modelling) environment. This methodology will allow to update the existing construction project documentation using a digital model, to identify clashes between different sections of the construction project and to ensure compliance with current regulatory and technical standards.
The planned works will include the preparation of an organisation of work plan and timetable, demolition works in accordance with the construction design, and the appropriate reconstruction and construction of the various sections of the construction design, including the supporting structures, utilities and external infrastructure such as the storm water drainage system. The procurement also includes the provision of author supervision, construction supervision and BIM to ensure that the project is implemented in accordance with the design solutions. The BIM model will be regularly updated in the framework of construction supervision observations and design changes.
The project is funded under the ERDF (European Regional Development Fund) "Recovery and Resilience Mechanism" programme "Improving Energy Efficiency".
Tenderers are invited to submit their proposals by 31 January 2024 at 10:00 on the following website https://www.eis.gov.lv/EKEIS/Supplier/Procurement/114473.
As previously reported, on 24 February 2020, the "Arsenāls" exhibition hall was closed for reconstruction with the aim of renovating and preserving the building, which was in a very poor technical state at the time. In 2021, phase 1 of the reconstruction was completed, including facade renovation, window restoration and waterproofing of the foundations.
On 12 September 2023, the Cabinet of Ministers approved the regulatory framework promoted by the Ministry of Culture for the conservation of unique cultural monuments of national importance located in the UNESCO World Heritage Site in the historic centre of Riga. The project will develop three facilities in the historic centre of Riga — the Great Guild, the "Arsenāls" exhibition hall and the public open space in the Old Town of Riga.
