On 14 June, the Cabinet of Ministers approved the results of the price survey announced by SJSC State Real Estate (SRE) for the construction of the next seven sections of the Eastern border infrastructure. Six sections will be built by SIA “Citrus Solutions” and one section - by SIA “VIA”. The total amount of the seven-section infrastructure construction agreements will be 38.7 million euros (excluding VAT), informs Renārs Griškevičs, Chairman of the Board of SRE.
In April 2022, SRE announced a price survey for the construction of infrastructure for seven sections of the Eastern Border (63.9 kilometres in length). The capital company invited 16 construction companies to participate in the price survey, four bidders submitted bids, and three of them had submitted bids for the performance of all sections of work.
Currently, the design works already started by the construction merchant SIA “Citrus Solutions” in nine priority sections of the Eastern Border, which are taking place in accordance with the previously approved time schedule for design, are nearing completion.
The eastern border project is an inter-institutional co-operation project. In accordance with the Law on the Construction of the External Land Border Infrastructure adopted by the Saeima on 12 November 2021, the project is supervised by the Monitoring Committee for the Construction of External Border Infrastructure, which consists of representatives from the Ministry of Defence, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Economics, Ministry of Transport, Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Environmental Protection and Regional Development, State Border Guard, National Collateral Agency, SJSC “Latvian State Radio and Television Centre”, SJSC “State Real Estate”, JSC “Latvian State Forests”, Latvian Geospatial Information Agency and the National Armed Forces. SRE manages, implements and supervises all works necessary for the construction of the border infrastructure, implements the procurements necessary for construction, and concludes procurement contracts. The project envisages the construction of 173 kilometres of the state border strip.
