The project is to involve the control agencies of the Russian Federation and Republic of Latvia, sharing their experience in effecting border and customs control, to better eliminate security risks, protect the national borders and speed up border crossings. Furthermore, the leading project partner from Russia will improve the infrastructure of the railway siding leading to the Brunischevo border crossing point (BCP) located in Russia, opposite the local Pededze BCP.
The main activities of the project include participation in the experience-sharing activities organised by the leading project partner (the Pskov Region Economic Development and Investment Policy Committee) in the context of coordinating the work of the control agencies

Project purpose:
Improve the quality of the 4.224 km long Brunischevo BCP (Russian Federation) railway siding, conduct the sharing of experience between the control agencies in Latvia and Russia, and carry out an information campaign for those crossing the border with the goal of expanding their knowledge in what pertains to crossing the border, thus increasing the throughput capacity of the border crossings.
Main project activities:
Participation in the experience-sharing activities organised by the leading project partner (the Pskov Region Economic Development and Investment Policy Committee), coordinating the work of the control agencies (State Revenue Service, State Border Guard, Food and Veterinary Service) to improve the everyday contacts and cooperation between the control agencies, and to share their experience in matters pertaining to crossing the border.
Project period and funding:
The project is to be carried out between 1 May 2019 and 30 June 2022.
The total project funding provided by Russia is EUR 2,000,000; SRE participates in the project without any funding.
Project benefits:
Improved railway infrastructure on the Russian side; better educated and knowledgeable border crossers on both sides of the border; better cooperation between the control agencies in Latvia and Russia.

04.06.2019. Partnership agreement is signed with the leading project partner.
21.06.2019. Leading project partner signs a grant agreement with the leading project partner in Latvia, Ministry of Environmental Protection and Regional Development (VARAM).
26.09.2019. Representatives of SJSC “State Real Estate” participate in the project opening event organised by the leading partner, and provide information about the project and the infrastructure improvement measures to take place at Terehova BCP as part of it.
27.04.2021. Regional experience sharing event between the Federal Customs Service of the Russian Federation and the Customs Board of the State Revenue Service of the Republic of Latvia (arranged using ZOOM software).
