While taking care of the management and development of the entrusted state-owned properties, SJSC “State Real Estate” observes the principle of responsible economic management or the principle of sustainability. Based on the principle of sustainability, we improve our business practices, key management policies, make responsible decisions about the management of state-owned properties, build relationships with customers and collaboration partners, take care of employees and support society initiatives. We pay special attention to sustainable solutions in the field of construction and actively implement them in development projects, thus promoting a balanced approach to economic, environmental and social responsibility aspects in the public sector of Latvia.

SJSC “State Real Estate” draws attention to the following aspects of sustainability:

Collaboration with stakeholders
By working with responsibility towards society and observing the principles of sustainability, SRE involves the stakeholders - the society, shareholders, customers - in solving issues important to both parties. Collaboration takes various forms: informing, inviting to negotiations or consultations, or inviting the parties concerned to work closely together.
In its activities, SRE takes the needs and interests of society into account by developing new projects in accordance with the principles of modern urban environment, maintaining infrastructure objects of strategic importance, preserving cultural and historical heritage and arranging environmentally degrading territories.
In the interests of the shareholder - the State of Latvia - SRE ensures the efficient management of state real estate, including higher revenues by leasing built-up public person land plots, improving the condition of objects in the possession of the Ministry of Finance and optimising the amount of real estate used for the realisation of public administration functions. We are constantly working to make the deployment of government agencies and institutions as efficient as possible, including by centralising locations and support functions. We take care of the company's positive reputation, stable financial results and efficient management processes.
SRE works in such a way that the customers, when solving the issues related to real estate, can rely on the competence of the company's employees and be sure of the quality of the recommended solutions. We provide energy-efficient real estate management that meets the needs of our customers, convenient, open and understandable communication, as well as the timely resolution of submitted issues.
The company regularly conducts customer satisfaction, employee engagement and reputation surveys, thus listening to the recommendations of customers, employees and society. This has allowed SRE to improve customer service and improve customer service principles, for example, a 24/7 service has been introduced to ensure more convenient accessibility. We also improved SRE’s internal systems, which allow us to provide services faster.
Demonstrating a responsible attitude towards society and the environment, we have started non-financial reporting in accordance with the internationally recognised Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) guidelines. The first sustainability report in the history of SRE has been prepared for the work done in 2019, work has begun on the sustainability report for 2020.

The level of corporate responsibility of SJSC “State Real Estate” and the progress towards a more sustainable company are also highly appreciated by the cooperation partners.
In 2018, the company received the bronze category of the Sustainability Index, but in 2019 and 2020 - the gold category. In 2021 SRE was awarded the platinum category. SRE is included in the Gold Level of the State Revenue Service's In-depth Cooperation Program or "White List".
In 2020, in the TOP 101 evaluation of the most valuable companies in Latvia, SRE was recognized as the eighth most valuable state capital company. In 2021 SRE has obtained the "Family friendly workplace status"
